Ananta Mishra, Promoter of Pancha Sakha Ideals, Remembered on His 87th Death Anniversary
Sakhigopal, 06.05.2024 (Saswat TV): The 87th death anniversary (Shraddha Utsav) of Ananta Mishra, renowned for promoting the ideals of the Pancha Sakha, was commemorated in Satyabadi. On this occasion, a discussion session titled “Ananta of Bakulban, Dedicated to Human Service” was organized at the Xavier High School auditorium near the Sakhigopal Bus Stand, along with a Saraswata (literary) poetry recitation program.
The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Ananta Mishra Memorial Committee. Pandit Bijay Kumar Chhatoi, the convener of the program, introduced the guests. The ceremony was chaired by educationist Satyabadi Das, with Dr. Abhimanyu Baral inaugurating the event.
Distinguished children’s author E. Abhaya Sutar served as the keynote speaker, while noted personalities like Dr. Hemanta Chhotaray and Ranjan Mishra—grandson of Ananta Mishra—participated as special guests. Poets Bandana Mahapatra and Sujata Devi coordinated the poetry recitation segment.
More than twenty poets and poetesses participated in the poetry reading, presenting their compositions in memory of Ananta Mishra. Scholar Rabindranath Sadangi delivered a heartfelt tribute reflecting on Ananta Mishra’s life and later presented a poem dedicated to him.
The program was conducted and managed by a team including Lakshmidhar Sahu, advocate Sushanta Kumar Rath, Nabaghan Satapathy, and Manorama Chhatoi.
