As the Boita Bandana and Baliyatra celebrations at the Talada Ghat under Astaranga Block approach, political controversy is stirring. Tensions have arisen between various political groups over the organization of the festival.
Sources reveal that a few influential individuals managing the festival are allegedly making decisions unilaterally, deliberately sidelining senior leaders of the area. This has sparked widespread discussions and concerns that the festival may lose its charm due to the neglect of experienced local figures.
Further controversy has emerged over alleged attempts by the Talada Sarpanch to collect donations using a personal Axis Bank account. Reports suggest that donations are being solicited from contractors, local political figures, and financially well-off individuals under questionable practices.
Locals claim that a handful of individuals with control over the event are ignoring the guidance and support of experienced and resourceful community members, leading to rising resentment in the area.
Meanwhile, in the same block, the traditional Baliyatra is held every year at the Jahaniya beach—a place symbolic of Hindu-Muslim harmony. With this parallel event already in place, questions are now being raised about how the local police administration will manage and coordinate multiple festivals within the same region. The situation has thus turned into a matter of administrative concern.
