Inauguration of Awareness Campaign and Rally for the Promotion of the PCPNDT Act and Protection of the Girl Child
On 29.03.2025 at 9:00 AM, a rally was organized from the ICDS office in Nayagarh to the District Collector’s office to promote and enforce the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, 1994. The rally aimed to raise awareness against female foeticide.
Over a hundred women and government officials participated in the rally, including Anganwadi workers, members of district-level women’s self-help groups, Sakhi staff, Shakti Vahini workers, and all employees from the District Women Empowerment Hub. Prominent among the participants were CDPO Nayagarh, Mrs. Saudamini Panda, and Protection Officer Mrs. Jayashree Pradhan. Various slogans emphasizing the care and protection of girl children were displayed throughout the march.
To further promote the cause, two awareness vans were flagged off from the District Collector’s office by Additional District Collector Mrs. Rozalin Das, Sub-Collector Mr. Karndev Samadar, and District Social Welfare Officer Mrs. Archana Kahar. These vans will circulate across the district to spread messages about protecting girl children and preventing female foeticide.
One awareness van will cover Nayagarh, Odagaon, Nuagaon, and Ranpur blocks, while the other will travel across Bhapur, Gania, Dasapalla, and Khandapada blocks. The goal is to widely disseminate information and sensitize the public on the importance of safeguarding girl children and upholding the laws against gender-based foeticide.
