Former Satyabadi MLA Rama Ranjan Baliarsingh Quits BJP, Joins BJD
Bhubaneswar: 16.5.24 (Saswat TV) – Former MLA of Satyabadi constituency in Puri district and BJP spokesperson Rama Ranjan Baliarsingh, along with several elected representatives and over a hundred BJP workers, officially joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today at Shankha Bhavan. The joining ceremony took place in the presence of Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sasmit Patra, senior general secretary and former minister Sanjay Das Burma—who is also the 2024 BJD MLA candidate from Satyabadi—and Rajya Sabha MP Subashish Khuntia.
As Rama Ranjan Baliarsingh joined the BJD, Dr. Patra, Mr. Das Burma, and Mr. Khuntia welcomed him into the party with a formal reception. Dr. Patra expressed that this inclusion of BJP workers would further strengthen the BJD’s organizational structure, especially in the Satyabadi constituency.

In his reaction during the event, Rama Ranjan Baliarsingh stated that he was inspired by the public-centric governance, transparent leadership, clean image, and ideological values of Hon’ble Chief Minister and BJD Supremo Shri Naveen Patnaik. These ideals motivated him to formally join the BJD. He emphasized that Satyabadi is the land of the Pancha Sakha (Five Friends) and the site of Odisha’s Odia University. It is also the birthplace of legendary leader Gopabandhu Das, which has recently undergone rejuvenation. These developments have elevated the pride of the Odia community.
In contrast, he criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that it has betrayed the hopes and aspirations of the people of Satyabadi. Baliarsingh said that as the state works toward building a “New Odisha,” he will responsibly carry out any duties entrusted to him by the Chief Minister. He extended his heartfelt gratitude to CM Naveen Patnaik, BJD organizational secretary Pranab Prakash Das, and the party’s leadership for accepting him and the BJP workers who joined alongside him.
Among those who joined the BJD along with Rama Ranjan Baliarsingh were Nandakishore Manasingh, Bibhuti Baral, Amar Satapathy, Durga Prasad Mishra, Nanda Kishore, Bhaskar Mishra, Rashmiranjan Das, Purushottam Bishwal, Manoranjan Baral, Prahallad Sahu, Ambika Behera, Tapan Behera, Urmila Parida, Abhaya Baliarsingh, Dushasan Sahu, Anandra Das, Bishnuprasad Jena, Panchanan Raut, Satyakumar Behera, Parbati Manasingh, Achyutananda Jena, Satyabhama Manasingh, Manoj Sahu, Gopal Pradhan, and Bishnuprasad Jena, along with over a hundred BJP workers.
