Odia Son Dilip Tirkey Takes Charge of Hockey India
Former India captain Dilip Tirkey has been elected as the new President of Hockey India. A three-time Olympian, regarded as one of India’s finest defenders, Tirkey assumed the role after filing his nomination as the President of the Odisha Hockey Federation.
The election was initially scheduled to take place next month, but with Bhola Nath Singh, President of Hockey Jharkhand, withdrawing his nomination for the post, Tirkey was named unopposed as the President. Singh was instead elected as the new Executive Secretary of Hockey India. He is also a member of the Indian Olympic Association, the International Hockey Federation (FIH), and a former associate of ex-Hockey India President Narinder Batra.
