Satyabadi’s Golden Girl Jayanti Scores Hat-Trick Gold in Khelo India Para Games
New Delhi: For the first time in India, the ‘Khelo India Para Games’ are being organized. The event is being held in Delhi from December 10 to 17. Over 1,350 athletes from 32 states and union territories are participating in this competition.
The games are being hosted across three stadiums under the Sports Authority of India: IG Stadium, Tughlaqabad Shooting Range, and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. A total of seven events are being held — Para Athletics, Para Shooting, Para Archery, Para Football, Para Badminton, Para Table Tennis, and Para Weightlifting.
In this prestigious event, Odisha’s para athlete and daughter of Satyabadi, Jayanti Behera, brought glory to both Odisha and Satyabadi by winning three consecutive gold medals in the women’s 100m, 200m, and 400m sprint categories — completing a golden hat-trick.
In addition to this, Jayanti had earlier made the nation proud at the World Para Games 2023 held in Thailand, by winning a bronze medal in the 100m and 200m events and a silver medal in the 400m sprint category.
For this remarkable achievement, best wishes are pouring in for Jayanti and her coach Bishnu Prasad Mishra. Jayanti is set to return to her hometown Satyabadi on the 14th of this month, where preparations are underway for a grand welcome by the Athletic Gurukul and Club Satyabadi.
