KIIT University Lifts Lingaraj Challenge Cup Trophy

The 14th edition of the Lingaraj Challenge Cup, organized under the aegis of the leading sports organization Lingaraj Sports Association, was successfully held in Bhubaneswar. The tournament was dedicated to and named after the club’s senior member, the late Shri Abhiram Nayak, and was played as the “Abhi Bhai Cup.” Four of the best teams from the state participated in the event.
In the semi-finals, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar defeated East Coast Railway, while Sports Hostel, Bhubaneswar overcame Rainbow Club to secure their spots in the final. In the final match, KIIT University triumphed over Sports Hostel, Bhubaneswar to claim the championship title.
Both the champion and runner-up teams were awarded trophies along with cash prizes. Additionally, outstanding players in various categories were honored with trophies for their performances.
Veteran coach Shri Samarendra Mahapatra, international referee Shri Sudarshan Pattnaik, international player Shri Lotak Bindu Das, and Shri Ramesh Chandra Ojha were present at the event and encouraged both participants and organizers with their support.
The president of the Lingaraj Sports Association, Shri Babu Singh, and secretary Shri Rajat Kumar Tripathi presented the champion and runner-up trophies respectively. The tournament concluded on a highly successful note, and the club extended heartfelt thanks to all its members and participants.
