Jai Maa Katak Chandi
Jai Maa Katak Chandi… Although festivals are celebrated everywhere, in Cuttack, the Sharadiya Puja is uniquely observed in all the Shakti Peethas with sixteen different forms (Beshas) of the Goddess. Especially at the shrine of the revered deity Maa Katak Chandi, a distinct sixteen-day-long ritual and celebration takes place from Mulashtami to Dashahara. On the sacred day of Mulashtami, the Goddess is adorned in her golden attire (Suna Besha) and worshipped with a grand Sahasra Kumbhabhisheka (ritual bath with 1,000 pots of water). Until Dashahara, the Goddess is decorated in different avatars and gives darshan to devotees in each of them. The temple premises resonate with the beating of gongs and the enchanting sound of the mohuri (traditional flute), creating a divine and spiritual ambiance.
