The sacred head-joining (Mastaka Sanyogikaran) ritual of Maa Dakshinakali, worshipped in Biragobindapur Shasan village under Satyabadi block, was performed with religious fervor. Following the completion of all rituals, devotees were granted a special Sahana Mela darshan (open public viewing) of the goddess.
The head of the deity was joined using sacred clay collected from the great cremation ground (Maha Smashan), and traditional painting was applied to the idol on Thursday morning. The main worship took place at midnight.
On Friday at 10 AM, the Sahana Mela (public darshan) was held for devotees. Maa Dakshinakali gave darshan in her fierce Mahabhairavi form. The midnight rituals included Mandala Karana (drawing of ritual circles), Ghata Avahan (invocation of the sacred pot), Ghata Sthapana (installation), life infusion ceremony (Jibadan), traditional sacrificial offerings, immersion, and sacred fire rituals (Homa).
Devotees were offered prasada after the goddess was served traditional offerings like khechudi (a rice-lentil dish), dalama (mixed lentils and vegetables), panikharu (a wild herb preparation), ou khata (elephant apple chutney), and machha besara (fish in mustard curry), all cooked in earthen pots and without onions, garlic, or potatoes.
On this occasion, the path from Maa’s shrine to the NH-316 National Highway was beautifully decorated with colorful lighting by the village committee. To ensure the success of the puja, senior officials such as Additional SP Bishnu Prasad Pati, Satyabadi Tehsildar Santosh Kumar Panigrahi, BDO Lipisa Ray, and Satyabadi IIC Umesh Kumar Sahu, along with members of the village youth association, extended their full cooperation and support.
