House Roof Damaged and Buffalo Killed by Lightning Strike
Kakatpur, 22/03 – (Tushar Dixit): During the recent spell of unseasonal rain accompanied by frequent lightning across the state, a house roof was damaged in Astaranga block, and a buffalo was killed at another location due to a lightning strike.
On Saturday afternoon, due to heavy rain and thunderstorm activity, lightning struck the house of Kalpana Behera in Madhupur village under Astaranga block, causing severe damage to the roof. Around the same time, in Jhadalinga village, Santosh Behera was grazing his buffalo near the village when lightning struck the area, resulting in the instant death of one of his buffaloes.
Fortunately, Santosh Behera, who was near the animal at the time, narrowly escaped injury. Local intellectuals are now demanding that the government provide financial assistance to both affected individuals for their losses.
