Two Farmers Killed, 14 Injured in Accident
Kakatpur (Tushar Dixit), Dated 14/06 – Today marks Pahili Raja, a special festival for every Odia household, celebrated with joy, traditional foods like pithas, pana, and other delicacies. However, on this very day, a tragic road accident occurred in the morning at Jagannathpur Square on the Nayahat Road in Kakatpur.
In this heart-wrenching accident, two individuals lost their lives and 14 others were injured. According to reports, a Mahindra pickup van (Reg. No. OD33AE 2925) was transporting around 16 betel leaf farmers from Chhaitana and surrounding villages under Astaranga block to Pipili market. Near Jagannathpur Square on the Nayahat Road, the vehicle suddenly lost control and overturned on the road.
As a result, Jogendra Sahu (age 52) from Chhaitana village and Sarat Chandra Sahu (age 58) from Kendrapati village died on the spot, while 14 others were seriously injured. Local residents, with the help of Kakatpur police, rushed the injured to the nearby Charichhak Health Centre via 108 ambulances.
Out of the injured, five were in critical condition and were immediately referred to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. Former minister and Kakatpur MLA Tusharkanti Behera visited Capital Hospital and ensured all necessary support for the treatment of the injured.
