Kakatpur, 26/11
(By Tushar Dixit)

On Monday at around 2 PM, respected teacher Sanjay Nayak was critically injured in a road accident. He was first admitted to Charichhak Health Centre and then shifted to SCB Medical College in Cuttack for advanced treatment. Unfortunately, despite all efforts, he passed away during treatment. He was 53 years old at the time of his demise.

According to sources, the late Nayak was returning to his rented house near College Chhak on his two-wheeler (Registration No. OR05Y7641), when a speeding Tata Ace vehicle hit him at Block Chhak and fled the scene. Gravely injured, he struggled between life and death as bystanders rushed him to the medical facility. Family members were immediately informed and took him to the hospital in Cuttack, but sadly, he succumbed to his injuries.

The news of his death spread like wildfire, leaving all of Kakatpur in shock. He was an integral part of various cultural and social organizations—be it the Ashtaprahari Yajna, Mangala Natya Parishad, or the annual Mangala Mahotsav—his presence and involvement were always prominent.

Due to his loving nature and popularity, the news of beloved Sanjay Sir’s sudden death sent waves of sorrow among friends, colleagues, students, and villagers. When his mortal remains reached Somanathpur Chhak, near Kakatpur, from the hospital, education officials and fellow teachers gathered to pay their respects.

Those present included Block Education Officer Dillip Jena, teacher leaders Munir Ahmad Khan, Vishnucharan Mohanty, Rakshak Swain, Hridananda Sasmal, Biswajit Swain, Babaji Gochhayat, Hemant Kumar Sahu, Chittaranjan Mishra, and Shivprasad Mishra, among others. A large procession was held, carrying his body to the Education Department Office, where floral tributes were offered. A financial assistance of ₹10,000 was handed over to the bereaved family.

His body was later taken to his native village Raiska, where his last rites were performed amidst an atmosphere of deep mourning. Late Sanjay Nayak was widely known in the region as a soft-spoken, student-friendly, charitable, and outspoken individual.

His only son Sai Saurabh and nephew Shaktiprasad performed the final rites. Friends, relatives, villagers, and colleagues were present to pay their last respects. Members of Mangala Natya Parishad, including President Ashok Kumar Dixit, Aditya Mohanty, Kamal Lochan Dixit, and Aditya Raut, were also present for the final farewell.
