OWJA Executive Meeting and Office Bearer Election Held

The executive general meeting of the Odisha Working Journalists’ Association (OWJA) Puri district unit was held today at the sacred site of Peer Jahania Peetha in Astaranga. The session was chaired by district president Sarat Parida. State president Sujnan Choudhury attended as chief guest, along with dignitaries including additional district magistrate (Revenue) Kailash Nayak, Deputy Director and Information and Public Relations Officer Santosh Sethy, Pratap Parida, and Chhuriyana Sarpanch Kshiroda Sethy. All spoke on the importance and safety of journalists. Belabhumi High School students welcomed guests with cultural and patriotic songs. More than a hundred journalists from different blocks of the district participated. During the event, individuals excelling in various fields were honored with the Surendra Nath Memorial Award, including Astaranga block administrative officer Chiranjibi Sahu, two high school toppers, two notable women, one social worker, and one model teacher. The newly elected office bearers, chosen unanimously, included President Sarat Parida, Vice-President Sanjay Pradhan, Legal Advisor Akshaya Kumar Mohanty, Secretary Trilochan Mishra, Organising Secretary Akshaya Prasad Mohanty, Office Secretary Brundaban Biswal, and Media Coordinator Alekh Biswal. The meeting was coordinated by Sobha Kar Behera with support from social worker Niranjan Biswal.
