Odhan Shashti or Prabarana Shashti

The Shukla Shashti tithi of the month of Margashira is celebrated as “Odhan Shashti” or “Prabarana Shashti”. From this day onwards, as per the principle of “just as it is done for humans, so for the deities”, the deities are adorned with warm clothes (winter garments) to protect them from the intense cold. This ritual continues until Vasanta Panchami.
