Odisha Governor Professor Ganeshi Lal unveiled the artistic presentation “Jai Shree Jagannath – A Sketch” at the Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. This project is a joint initiative of the Council for International Education, Employment and Empowerment and the Institute of Digital Media Technology. The presentation is based on the 108 sacred names (Ashtottara Shatanamavali) of Lord Jagannath, the revered deity of Odisha and the world.
On this occasion, the Governor expressed that efforts like this help promote Jagannath culture and can inspire feelings of devotion, respect, and affection among people. He added that such spiritual endeavors can guide individuals on the right path in life.
At the unveiling event, Janardan Pattajoshi Mahapatra, chief servitor and head of Chhatisha Nijog of the Shree Jagannath Temple, offered prayers and said the presentation is a sacred offering from humanity to Lord Jagannath. He expressed hope that the blessings of the Lord would reach not only human beings but all living creatures through this effort.
Another priest from the Shreekhetra, Jaynarayan, remarked that the project is divinely inspired and aimed at universal well-being. Mahant Shubhananda Maharaj of the Mahiprakash Math in Puri stated that this initiative by Kala Kshetra will benefit humanity at large. He added that simply hearing the 108 names of Lord Jagannath could spiritually protect beings and help them avoid misdirection in life.
Environmental expert Dilip Srichandan highlighted that the documentary and musical presentation prepared by Kala Kshetra is based on 34 divine forms (Vesha) and 108 names of Lord Jagannath, along with associated rituals and traditions. He said this effort represents religious harmony and is a priceless cultural treasure for Odisha and the world.
The event was also attended by renowned Odia film actor Sabyasachi Mishra, former senior administrator Madhusudan Mishra, Governor’s senior public relations officer Rakshak Nayak, director of the Council for International Education and Empowerment Pradeep Tripathi, and senior journalist Samarendra Raut. They all appreciated this noble initiative to promote Jagannath culture and expressed their hope that such programs will continue in the future.
Governor Ganeshi Lal also emphasized the importance of integrating Jagannath-related curriculum into educational institutions both within and outside Odisha to further expand the reach of Jagannath culture.
