Who is Responsible for the Death of Cows at Govardhan Peeth?
At the Govardhan Goshala in Puri, under the direct supervision of Jagadguru Shankaracharya, around 350 cows are sheltered. However, for a long time, contaminated drain water from the nearby Achihasa Sahi area has been flowing into the goshala. As a result, the cows come into contact with this polluted water, leading to illness and even death.
Despite repeated attempts by the authorities of Govardhan Peeth over the past three years to bring this issue to the attention of the Puri district administration, no concrete action has been taken. Consequently, the cows continue to consume this contaminated water, resulting in their untimely deaths.
In the last two days alone, four cows have died. Following this, Govardhan Math authorities informed the veterinary officer, and post-mortem examinations were conducted on the deceased cows.
Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Nishchalananda Saraswati, the head of Govardhan Peeth, has expressed deep anguish over the matter and urged the Puri district administration to take immediate action to resolve the issue.
