Sanjay Appointed as Shodasha Upachara Pujapanda
Kakatpur, 21/9: Sanjay Kumar Dixit, also known as Babul Bhaina, has been formally appointed as the Shodasha Upachara Pujapanda (priest responsible for performing the sixteen-fold ritual worship) for the Ashwina month celebrations dedicated to Goddess Mangala, the presiding deity of Kakatpur in Puri district.
The official appointment took place inside the temple’s Natamandapa in the presence of members of the Pujapanda Mandali, Sevayat Niog, and the temple administration. Following a formal examination, Sanjay was declared qualified to serve in this sacred role. The temple authorities honored him with a traditional uttariya (shawl) and a bouquet.
In recent years, only two or three individuals have been appointed to this significant role. This year, Sanjay has successfully earned the position and will be responsible for performing all ritualistic duties independently during the current festive season.
His appointment was met with appreciation and congratulations from the entire temple community. Key figures such as the president and vice-president of the Sevayat Niog, senior and former members of the Sevak Committee, other Pujapanda Sevaks, the temple priest, the temple trustee, executive officer, and advisory and committee members all expressed their good wishes to him.
It has been confirmed that the temple administration will provide Sanjay with all necessary support and cooperation for the upcoming festival rituals, ensuring the smooth execution of traditional worship practices.
