Business Community Participates in Lakshmi Bazaar’s Immersion Festival
Kakatpur, 1/11:
While the worship of Goddess Lakshmi at Lakshmi Bazar was being celebrated with great enthusiasm and grandeur, the market was adorned with various cultural programs. Today, during the immersion festival of the goddess, traders accompanied the procession with bells, gongs, drums, and the sound of conch shells as they proceeded through Mangala Bazar, Mahanti Sahi, Medical Square, and towards College Square to immerse the idol in the sacred Prachi River.
Lakshmi Bazar President Ratikanta Behera, Vice President Saroj Kumar Samal, Secretary Himanshu Bhushan Dixit, and activist Alekh Kumar Sahoo actively participated in the immersion celebration. Members like Nrusingha Nayak, Pritam Nayak, Subash Chandra Bishoi, Pikula Nayak, social worker Shyam Sundar Rana, Ajay Nayak, Sudhanshu Bhushan Dixit, and Uttam Kumar Nayak shared their thoughts on making next year’s celebration even more vibrant and beautiful.
Organizer Prasanna Kumar Nayak mentioned that now everyone will have to wait for another year to witness the return of the goddess during the next festival. Ganesh Bazar President Kamal Lochan Dixit and Secretary Manas Kumar Dixit stated that the unity and brotherhood created during this immersion event—where the presidents and secretaries of different markets exchanged flower garlands—was truly special.
Bhagirathi Swain, a member of Chandan Bazar, remarked that as long as this unique tradition continues, the spirit of brotherhood in the market will remain strong.
