3-Day Odissi Dance Workshop Conducted Under the Aegis of Satyabadi Sangeet Mahavidyalaya
As in previous years, this year too, a three-day Odissi dance workshop has been organized under the auspices of Satyabadi Sangeet Mahavidyalaya. The workshop is being held under the guidance of Guru Lingaraj Swain, with the active participation of senior students of the institution.
During the workshop, Dr. Abhimanyu Baral explained the literary compositions of Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja to the students and also sang selected verses from Labanyabati. The workshop starts each day at 7 a.m., where the participants begin with yoga and physical exercises followed by training in various aspects of Odissi dance, including mudras (gestures), talas (rhythmic cycles), bhangis (postures), and how to express beauty and grace in performance.
A key objective of the workshop is to enable students to understand the literary and philosophical background behind the dance, so that they can perform with deeper expression and meaning.
The core aim of this workshop is to preserve Odisha’s literature, culture, and traditions, while also awakening cultural consciousness among the younger generation.
