Celebration of Debasnana Purnima in Banpur: Deities Appear in Gajavesha (Elephant Attire) at Various Temples
Banpur: Dated 22.6.24 – Ranjan Mahapatra – On the occasion of Debasnana Purnima today, the holy bathing ritual (Snana Niti) of the presiding deities of Banpur — Mahaprabhu Shri Shri Ranganath Dev, Shri Shri Charan Chakadev, Patitapaban, and the Jagannath temple of Sahaspur — was performed as per the traditional customs and rituals.
The Snana Niti of Shri Shri Ranganath was observed with grandeur. In the morning, after the ceremonial Dhadi Pahandi (procession), the movable idols of Shri Balabhadra, Subhadra, and Jagannath were brought to the Snana Mandap (bathing altar) through the Pahandi procession.

Subsequently, following the Avakash, Mailama, and Balabhoga rituals, the deities were bathed with 108 pitchers of fragrant water mixed with camphor, sandalwood, and aguru (a fragrant resin).
Afterwards, the midday incense and Sankhudi Bhoga (offering) were conducted. In the evening, the deities gave darshan to the devotees in Gajavesha (elephant attire). To witness the Snana Purnima celebrations, hundreds of devotees from the Banpur region gathered at the temple premises.
The entire event was managed in an orderly manner by the temple management committee.
