Pahili Bhoga Ritual Begins at Maa Mangala Temple
Kakatpur, 16/12/2024 – The revered Maa Mangala Temple of Kakatpur, deeply connected with Lord Jagannath of Puri, has commenced the traditional ritual of Pahili Bhoga (first offering). This sacred ritual begins from Dhanus Sankranti and continues until Makar Sankranti. The temple trust has made all necessary arrangements to carry out this ritual smoothly.
Every day, from Dhanus Sankranti to Makar Sankranti, after the evening incense offering (Sandhya Dhoopa), a special Muua Puja is performed before the goddess. This puja is a significant tradition carried out by the servitor priests of the temple. Senior priest Lalit Kumar Dixit stated that it is not known exactly when this tradition began, as it has been followed since ancient times.
Temple trustee Ankita Anandita personally visited the temple this evening and discussed the details of the Pahili Bhoga ritual with the Executive Officer of the temple, Kailash Chandra Das, to better understand its proceedings.
