Odia University Students Protest Over Faculty Transfers – Demand Reinstatement of Professor

Satyabadi, 01.05.2024 (Saswat TV): Classes at the newly established Odia University in Satyabadi commenced this academic year. However, even before completing a full year, students are expressing dissatisfaction and reporting multiple issues affecting their academic experience.

The students have raised concerns about frequent transfers of faculty members, poor hostel facilities, and problems related to food and accommodation. In response to these issues, they staged a protest and sat on a dharna in front of the university’s main gate.

The immediate trigger for the unrest is the transfer of Ananta Kishore Jena, a professor in the Department of Natural Language Processing. Students are demanding his reinstatement, stating that their agitation will continue until he is brought back to the university
