Sambalpur, 30.04.2024 (Saswat TV): Biju Janata Dal (BJD) organizational secretary and MP candidate Pranab Prakash Das filed his nomination today at the office of the Sambalpur District Collector. After seeking blessings from Maa Samaleswari, he submitted four sets of nomination papers with five proposers following a grand rally through the city.
Starting from Balibandha, the rally reached the Collector’s office, where Das submitted his nomination in the presence of senior BJD leaders. Pranab Das is the son of the late Ashok Das, former Leader of the Opposition. He has previously been elected as the MLA from Jajpur three times consecutively since 2009 with massive margins.
Pranab Das has dedicated himself to public service by following the ideals of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. In fact, he voluntarily resigned from his ministerial post to focus on party organization, setting an example for both workers and leaders alike. After winning a second term as MLA, he was inducted into the cabinet by CM Naveen Patnaik and entrusted with the significant role of Energy Minister—a responsibility he handled with notable efficiency. Later, stepping down from the ministry, he took up the role of strengthening the party’s grassroots.
Recognizing his organizational skills, Naveen Patnaik appointed him as the BJD’s organizational secretary. Since then, Pranab Das has proven his leadership by consolidating the party’s structure across various regions of the state.
Political analysts believe BJD enjoys strong support in Sambalpur due to its consistent developmental work. From the BJP, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has entered the fray, while the Congress has fielded Nagendra Pradhan—setting the stage for a high-stakes triangular contest.
On this occasion, Hon’ble Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik conveyed his best wishes and blessings to Pranab Das via a video message, wishing him victory in the upcoming election.
