Anweshan’s 4th Annual Festival – Awareness Through Rally, Workshop, and Meeting: “Education is a Right for Children, Not Begging”
Puri, 20/11
Let no child’s childhood be shackled by poverty or neglect. Education is a fundamental right of every child—not begging. Even among children living in slums, there is immense talent and skill that needs to be nurtured. No child should be deprived of education or their rights. With this mission, the organization Anweshan celebrated its 4th annual festival by organizing an awareness rally, workshop, and public meeting.
On Wednesday, children held a rally chanting slogans on children’s rights, starting from the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and culminating at the event venue. The “Children’s Festival” was held at Sanskriti Bhavan, where a workshop for children was organized. There, the kids prepared flower vases and other items using discarded materials. They also demonstrated their creativity by making lamps and rakhis using Panchagavya (a traditional Ayurvedic mixture), showcasing their skills.
In the afternoon session, a meeting was held with esteemed guests including Mandakini Kar from OSCPCR (Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights), CWC Chairperson Ajit Mahapatra, DCPO Manoj Tripathi, Information and Public Relations Officer Santosh Kumar Sethi, RUSH official Debashis Rath, Rotary Club Puri President Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, social worker Manoj Rath, Rotary Club Shri Jagannath Dham President Kailash Chandra Behera, and Sishu Samachar editor Sukanta Panda.
All the guests highly appreciated Anweshan’s efforts in social service and in shaping children into responsible citizens. Members of Anweshan also spread awareness about children’s rights through colorful rangoli and art displays.
The event was coordinated by Shib Sundar Mishra. An editorial address was delivered by Anweshan’s representative Santosh Kumar Raut. Children from Pentakata and Balia Panda slums performed cultural programs during the event. Winners of various competitions were felicitated with prizes.
The event was managed by team members Niranjan Pradhan, Deepak Ranjan Pani, Sipali Barik, Bamadev Maharana, Diptishikha Kar, Khitis Nayak, Barsha Haldar, Nandini Malik, Umesh Das, Kalyani Malik, Sandhya Behera, Liku, Samiksha, Pooja, Tulasi, and many other members. Several generous individuals also extended support to ensure the success of the children’s event.
