Inauguration of the National 108-Kundi Mahayajna in Puri – Grand Kalash Yatra Along the Seashore
Puri:
The grand National 108-Kundi Shri Shri 1008 Shri Jagannath Parambrahma Vishwakalyan Shanti Mahayajna has been ceremoniously inaugurated in Puri. The event is jointly organized under the auspices of Shri Ram Sundarkand Charitable Trust (Govind Godham Goshala) and Shri Sitaram Das Ji Maharaj Balda Dham Vikas Samiti, Rajasthan.
A grand spiritual procession took place with more than 200 Kalash (sacred pots) carried by Vedic Brahmins and devotees who came from various states, including Rajasthan, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha. The procession started from the Mahodadhi Alati Mandap near the statue of Jagatguru Shankaracharya in front of Swargadwar and proceeded toward the Yajna site.
Notable spiritual leaders like Sant Pandit Chiranjeevi Shastri, Rajkumar Shastri, and Shri Ram Shastri from Jaipur, along with Dr. Ramcharan Das Ji Maharaj, head of the Naval Das Math in Puri, and Pandit Bishnucharana Panda Ji Maharaj, founder and secretary of Govind Godham Goshala, were present and helped establish the Kalash at the yajna site.
Member of Parliament from Berhampur, Pradeep Panigrahi, also arrived at the venue. He was welcomed by Ranjita Padhi, president of the invitation committee, and spokesperson-journalist Bishnudatta Das. First, the MP sought blessings from the renowned saint of Rajasthan, Shri Sitaram Das Ji Maharaj of Balda Dham, and was shown around the yajna site by Pandit Bishnucharana Panda Ji. The yajna officially began with Vedic rituals and puja.
In an interview with the media, MP Pradeep Panigrahi emphasized the need to review and strengthen the 1961 cow slaughter law. He expressed hope that the state government would pursue this initiative and that it would be discussed in the legislative assembly beyond party lines. He added that Odisha’s Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari is a capable leader and would take strict action against those illegally buying, selling, or encroaching on Gochara (cow-grazing) lands. He stressed that all such lands should be preserved for the protection of cows and the welfare of society.
He praised the yajna for its national-level efforts to protect cows and Sanatan Dharma, calling it commendable and inspirational. The yajna has also seen participation from international Ramcharitmanas reciters like Suresh Sarada and Sharad Sarada from Nizamabad, Telangana, along with devout Brahmins from various states.
This nine-day event, scheduled from Thursday, November 21 to Friday, November 29, is being coordinated by Pandit Bishnucharana Panda Ji Maharaj and journalist Bishnudatta Das.
