Bibhuti Bhushan Kar, the State President of Utkal Sambadika Sangha, the oldest and largest journalist organization in Odisha, has been honored with the Journalistic Pride Award.
The award was presented to him during the third annual celebration of the Charichhaka Press Club, which took place last Sunday at the Brahmeshwar Temple premises in Charichhaka, under Nimapada block of Puri district. On the occasion of his participation in the event, Mr. Kar was felicitated by the Press Club with this prestigious award.
The chief guest of the celebration, Odisha’s Minister of School and Mass Education, Samir Ranjan Dash, presented Mr. Kar with a shawl and a token of honor.
Mr. Kar, who has been serving as the president of the State Journalists’ Association for many years, has been instrumental in activating and strengthening block and district-level journalist associations across the state. He has consistently fought for journalists’ fundamental rights and has led several movements to pressure the government for their protection.
He further announced that on the occasion of the association’s foundation day, a massive rally will be held in Bhubaneswar demanding that the government immediately enact a separate law for the safety and security of journalists.
