Ashtaprahari Nama Sankirtan Held in Jamara Village
Kakatpur, 01.04: On the auspicious occasion of Shri Ram Navami and Utkal New Year, a grand Ashtaprahari Nama Sankirtan (24-hour devotional singing) was organized by the village committee in Jamara village, a lush green and beautiful hamlet near Balidokan under Kakatpur block.
On the evening of the opening day, holy water was fetched from the sacred pond of Baba Dakshineswar Mahadev, and a Kalasha Yatra (ritual pot procession) with 108 kalashas was carried out by the village’s youth, women, and girls. The ritual altar (bedi) was set up in the courtyard of the village deity Maa Dulladei, where puja and worship were conducted with full religious fervor, and the deity’s seat was ceremonially installed.
On Shri Ram Navami, the villagers immersed themselves in the chanting of the Mahamantra and Hari Nama Sankirtan (devotional singing of Lord Hari’s name).
On the concluding day, events such as Purnahuti (final ritual offering), Nagar Kirtan (street devotional procession), and the symbolic Yamuna Bathing ceremony were observed, in which the villagers participated enthusiastically.
Along with the two Sankirtan mandalis (devotional singing groups) from Jamara village, groups from nearby villages such as Jamatala, Godhanpada, Raitisahi, Khandala, Aruha, Jadupur, Suar, Kotanga, and Bankuri also joined and shared in the blissful devotional experience.
This vibrant and spiritually uplifting program was coordinated by village president and social worker Jagabandhu Bishwal, secretary Dhadiya Khatoi, and treasurer Puna Bishwal, with the active cooperation of all villagers.
