Dead Body of Missing Boy Recovered After 42 Hours
Kakatpur (Puri District) – The dead body of a boy who had gone missing on Thursday afternoon while bathing in the Devi River near Bauriakana in Kakatpur block was recovered from the same location on Saturday morning, 42 hours later. The deceased boy has been identified as S.K. Daniba (16) from Lataharan village. On Thursday, he had gone to bathe in the Devi River with two of his friends, when he was swept away by the river’s current.
His two friends immediately informed his family members about the incident. Despite extensive search operations carried out throughout Friday by local residents, the fire brigade, and the ODRAF team, the missing boy could not be located.
However, on Saturday morning, local people spotted the boy’s dead body floating in the river water while they had gone there to bathe. They immediately informed the police. Upon arrival at the scene, the police recovered the minor’s body and sent it to Charichak for postmortem.
This tragic incident has cast a pall of sorrow over the entire Kakatpur region.
