Suhagpur Village Remains Far from Government Welfare Schemes
Kakatpur, 21/08 – While the nation celebrates 77 years of independence, Suhagpur village under Kakatpur block—despite being the main village of Suhagpur panchayat—remains largely untouched by various people-centric government schemes. Much like a lamp’s base being dark, the village appears neglected, perhaps because no influential leaders have emerged from the area. It seems as though government officials have deliberately sidelined this village.
One of the major issues faced by the village is the poor condition of its roads. Villagers often have to walk through knee-deep mud to commute. While residents of Fakir Sahi and Patana villages under the same panchayat have expanded their influence and availed government benefits, Suhagpur remains ignored and out of the spotlight.
Due to political favoritism and influence of certain party-aligned leaders, developmental activities continue elsewhere, while Suhagpur is treated like a neglected stepchild. Villagers are forced to use an embankment path for daily travel. Recently, when a contractor opened up the embankment under the pretense of work, the village became cut off from the outside world.
The lack of an all-weather road in the village has made it difficult for people to maintain basic social connections—even inviting guests has become an issue. Villagers are now strongly demanding immediate attention from the Puri District Collector and administrative authorities to address these long-standing problems.
