Surprise Raids Conducted at Various Hotels and Roadside Eateries by Puri District Food Inspector and Kakatpur Police
Kakatpur, 13/10 — Following a recent incident where a garland of hair was reportedly found in a dosa served at a hotel in Kakatpur, the news quickly spread through various media outlets. In light of the larger public interest and concern for food safety, Puri District Food Safety Officer Pratyush Tarania, in coordination with Kakatpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Umesh Chandra Sahu, carried out surprise raids on various hotels, restaurants, and roadside eateries across Kakatpur Bazaar.
During the raids, inspections were conducted on hygiene arrangements, the quality of prepared food, the cleanliness of the serving environment, and the condition of raw materials kept in refrigeration for extended periods. Several establishments were found lacking in quality, prompting strong disapproval from Food Safety Officer Mr. Tarania.
The operation was supported by Kakatpur Police Sub-Inspector P. Pradhan, ASIs P.K. Mishra, B. Pattnayak, J. Sahu, the District Food Inspector, and other department staff.
In this context, food quality and management were inspected at several establishments including Babaji Sahu Mistanna Bhandar, Hotel Ashoka, Tasty Corner, Hotel Mahaveer, and Food Family Restaurant in Kakatpur Bazaar. Authorities have stated that such surprise inspections and evaluations will continue regularly. Consequently, all business establishment owners—especially those operating hotels, restaurants, and roadside eateries—have been warned to ensure proper management and operation of their premises. They are also being urged by the administration to obtain valid food licenses promptly.
