Strict Action Taken Against Passenger Buses – 5 Cases Filed, ₹45,500 Fine Collected
Kakatpur – 23/02/2024 (Tushar Dixit):
Yesterday, a joint inspection was conducted by the Puri Regional Transport Department and Kakatpur Police, during which several passenger buses were checked. Action was taken against buses not operating on their permitted routes, and a total of ₹45,500 in fines was collected from five buses.
In recent days, it had been reported that some bus owners, despite having permits for routes to Astaranga, were illegally parking or spending the night in Kakatpur instead of reaching their designated destinations. This was causing inconvenience to passengers due to the lack of proper transport services.
Based on these complaints, the Puri District Regional Transport Officer and Kakatpur Police IIC Umesh Chandra Sahu conducted the inspection and penalized the violators accordingly.
Authorities further stated that bus owners will be strictly warned, and if they continue to violate route permits or fail to reach their designated destinations, their permits will be canceled.
