Kakatpur, 8/2 (Tushar Dixit):
Kakatpur police achieved a major breakthrough by arresting two suspects involved in the theft of school property. On January 17th, a significant theft had taken place at Ostapur Primary School in Naiguan Panchayat under Astarang block, where school materials worth over a lakh rupees were stolen. A formal complaint had been filed at Kakatpur police station.
Fifteen days later, a similar incident occurred at the nearby sub-health centre, raising further concern. After interrogation, the two accused admitted their involvement in the school and health centre thefts. They also revealed the names of additional accomplices involved in the crimes. Interestingly, stolen school materials were found dumped near the roadside earlier that morning.
Following medical examination, both were produced in the Nimapada court under case no. 28/25 and charged under NDPS Act section 21(B). The accused have been identified as Bibhuti Senapati (alias Bhupati), 31, from Ostapur village, and Rajesh Biswal, 31, from nearby Khandasahi.
