Exhibition of Mahaprabhu’s 24 Veshas and 56 Bhogas
Kakatpur – 16/02 – (Tushar Dixit):
A spiritually enriching experience unfolded as devotees felt divine bliss in the sacred atmosphere. Thousands of devotees felt blessed after witnessing the different veshas (attires) of Lord Jagannath. At one single venue, 24 rare and distinct veshas of Mahaprabhu (Lord Jagannath) were showcased, drawing huge crowds eager to behold the unique darshan. Along with the Lord’s daily attire, special veshas representing different occasions across the 12 months were presented, each holding unique spiritual significance. It is believed that witnessing these veshas grants the virtue of countless lifetimes.
With this belief, for the benefit of devotees and pilgrims, the Shri Jagannath Pancharatra Committee organized the 9th Annual Shri Jagannath Pancharatra Festival at the Deuli Math premises in Kakatpur, Puri district. The inauguration took place on Saturday evening. Chief guests included Kavi Baba Dinabandhu Maharaj, renowned preacher of Jagannath Mahima Pandit Satyananda Das Maharaj, and former minister Pratap Jena, along with other prominent saints and spiritual figures.
Displayed at the event were 24 distinct veshas of Mahaprabhu, including: Tada Pauturi Vesha, Pratidina Vesha, Bada Singhar Vesha, Chandan Lagi Vesha, Gajanan Vesha, Suna Vesha, Banabhoji Vesha, Kaliya Dalan Vesha, Pralambhasura Badh Vesha, Krishna-Balaram Vesha, Vamana Vesha, Radha-Damodar Vesha, Harihara Vesha, Lakshmi-Narayan Vesha, Bankachuda Vesha, Lakshmi-Narasimha Vesha, Nagarjuna Vesha, Shraddha Vesha, Ghodalagi Vesha, Padma Vesha, Nabaanka Vesha, Makara Chaurashi Vesha, Gajoddharana Vesha, and Chacheri Vesha. Devotees were left mesmerized and deeply moved by these divine and beautiful forms of the Lord.
Many devotees who are unable to witness these veshas at the Jagannath Temple in Puri found this event to be a rare and fulfilling opportunity. Thanks to the support of the Shri Jagannath Pancharatra Committee, these unique darshans were made accessible to all. The festival is being held from February 15 to 19 near Deuli Math. Each evening also includes recitation and discourse from the Skanda Purana’s section on the greatness of Shri Purushottam Kshetra. Devotees have extended heartfelt thanks to the organizers for hosting such a divine event.
