“Based on the Glory of Satyabadi, the Region’s Infrastructure and Basic Amenities Will Be Developed – Chief Minister”

Satyabadi is considered the cradle of Odia Renaissance, with the Satyabadi Bana Vidyalaya at its heart, serving as a center for Odia national consciousness. The Panchasakha (five close associates) of Satyabadi were like mirrors of society. Through education, they reflected moral values in human life and became messengers of Odisha’s intellectual independence. Speaking at the Satyabadi Mahotsav 2025 held at Sakhigopal today, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized these contributions.
The Chief Minister announced that the identity and pride of Satyabadi would serve as the foundation for developing the region’s necessary infrastructure and all types of basic facilities.

He added that the government had initiated efforts to restore the historic Satyabadi Bana Vidyalaya, which once enlightened the whole of Odisha with the light of education. To acquaint the current generation with the school’s heritage and traditions, an educational environment reflecting its original structure would be developed in Bakula Bana. The restoration and development of both Bakula Bana and the Satyabadi Bana Vidyalaya aim to transform the site into a center of heritage tourism. Additionally, the nearby Sakhigopal temple and surrounding areas would also see development.
Highlighting its past, the Chief Minister described Satyabadi Bana Vidyalaya as a factory of character-building in its time. Under the leadership of Pandit Gopabandhu, the sacrifice and sense of duty of the Gurumaans (teachers) made it a model educational institution for the entire state. The school instilled values like character, selfless service, and renunciation among its students, inspiring them to see service to humanity as their true purpose.
Before attending the Mahotsav, the Chief Minister visited Odia University to study its foundation. He also held discussions with the university’s Vice Chancellor, faculty, and students.
Speaking at the Mahotsav, the Chief Minister focused on the university’s development and said that the groundwork for Odia University at Satyabadi would be expedited. The university would be developed into a center of excellence in Odia language, literature, education, and research. It would also become a premier institution for promoting Odia identity and heritage.
Reflecting on Satyabadi’s historical significance, the Chief Minister said that during the dawn of India’s independence, the Panchasakha not only managed the school but also inspired the freedom movement through their writings. The school, built on the ancient Gurukul model with modern education, was held together and inspired by Pandit Gopabandhu’s unwavering spirit, Nilakantha’s organizational strength, Godabarish’s teaching ideals, Krupasindhu’s deep reverence for heritage, and Acharya Harihara’s sage-like nurturing nature. Satyabadi’s contribution to Odia literature is immeasurable, and its literary movement played a key role in shaping the Odia identity.
The Chief Minister further stated that within the past eight months, the government had undertaken many welfare measures. Under the Subhadra Scheme, 98 lakh women have received financial assistance. Delegates from over 70 countries attending the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas were mesmerized by Puri’s beauty. Satyabadi will play a significant role in the development of Puri district as part of the broader vision of a developed and prosperous Odisha. The identity and pride of Satyabadi will underpin the region’s infrastructural development, making it a vital contributor to the making of a developed Odisha.
During the event, Puri MP Dr. Sambit Patra, Satyabadi MLA Shri Om Prakash Mishra, and Pipili MLA Shri Ashrit Pattnaik also urged everyone to work together for the development of Satyabadi and the fulfillment of the vision for a prosperous Odisha.
