Preparatory Meeting Held for the Upcoming Chandan Yatra
The Chandan Yatra of the deities will commence on the upcoming Akshaya Tritiya. The traditional boat play (Chapa Khela) will be held at Narendra Pond. The festival will be conducted from the 23rd of this month to the 12th of May. A preparatory meeting was held this afternoon in the conference hall of the Shree Mandir office to ensure the smooth and organized conduct of the festival.
The meeting was chaired by District Collector Samarth Verma, who advised all departments to work with dedication for the orderly execution of the Chandan Yatra. Instructions were given for road repair, uninterrupted power supply, ensuring that the route of the deities’ procession remains unobstructed, street lighting, beautification of Narendra Pond, and maintaining law and order for the smooth viewing experience of devotees.
Emphasis was laid on taking appropriate measures to avoid any inconvenience during ritual proceedings. Coordination among Mahajans, Bimanabadu, temple commanders, and various construction agencies was advised for timely execution of tasks and to remain vigilant against any minor issues during the Yatra.
The District Collector also praised the work of the Fire Department in past years and, considering the possibility of untimely storms during the Yatra, suggested heightened alertness and proper deployment of staff. Recommendations were also made regarding the preparation of the Rathkhala, ensuring security, installation of barricades, and leveling of roads.
The meeting was attended by SP Da Kanwar Vishal Singh, Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Pradeep Kumar Sahu, Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Kailash Chandra Nayak, Shree Mandir Development Administrator Ajay Kumar Jena, Ritual Administrator Jitendra Kumar Sahu, Sub-Collector Bhavataran Sahu, members of the temple management committee, senior servitors, and officers from various departments, who participated in the discussions.
