Siddharth Rautaray, Son of Jatni MLA Suresh Rautaray, Meets Martyr’s Family on a Bicycle Journey
This morning at around 8 AM, Siddharth Rautaray, son of Jatni MLA Suresh Rautaray, rode a bicycle from Bhubaneswar to Alagum in Satyabadi to meet the family of Martyr Debashish Biswal. Upon arriving in Sakhigopal, he first paid floral tribute at the Samadhi (memorial) of the Panchasakha saints. He then resumed his journey toward Alagum’s Khandayat Sahi on his bicycle.
Starting from Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, Siddharth, along with five of his friends, cycled nearly 60 kilometers to reach Khandayat Sahi in Satyabadi. There, he met Martyr Debashish’s family, offered condolences, and paid tribute before the martyr’s photograph.
Siddharth was accompanied by his brother-in-law, Prasad Harichandan, former PCC president and Congress leader, Dillip Srichandan, former Khurda MLA and environmentalist, along with 20 members of Paika Academy, all of whom visited the martyr’s family. On the occasion, they gifted a bicycle to the martyr’s daughter and handed over a Martyr Assistance Booklet to the family.
In honor of the martyr, Siddharth also presented a poster bearing a message from Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe, where he had previously undertaken an expedition. A photo of the poster was also handed over to Debashish’s brother Bigyan.
As part of the tribute, 60 coconut saplings were planted with the help of villagers at the village cremation ground and pond area. At the school where Martyr Debashish studied, it was announced by Prasad Harichandan that during the school’s annual function, ₹10,000 would be awarded in his name to the top-performing students.
The program concluded with all participants paying homage to Martyr Debashish’s sacrifice and offering prayers for the peace of his departed soul.
