Fifth Meeting of Puri Zilla Parishad Held
Puri, 2/8 – The fifth meeting of the Puri Zilla Parishad was held yesterday morning at the Zilla Parishad Conference Hall. Presiding over the meeting, the Chairperson of the Zilla Parishad, Swapnarani Swain, welcomed all attendees and expressed her wish for everyone’s cooperation in transforming Puri into a developed and prosperous district.
The meeting was attended by Sports, Youth Services & Home Minister Tusharkanti Behera, Nimapada MLA Samir Ranjan Dash, Satyabadi MLA Umakanta Samantaray, Puri MLA Jayanta Sarangi, Brahmagiri MLA Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra, Pipili MLA Rudra Pratap Maharathy, District Collector Samarth Verma, and Vice-Chairman of the Zilla Parishad Swadhin Kumar Nayak, among others. Discussions were held with active participation from all.
Jyoti Shankar Mahapatra, the Chief Development Officer and Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad, conducted the meeting as per the agenda.
In the financial year 2023-24, a total of ₹149.24 lakh received under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) has been completely utilized. Under the Mid-Day Meal (MDM) scheme of the Education Department, ₹845.32 lakh out of ₹1071.23 lakh received has been spent. Likewise, the ₹90.81 lakh grant received for other educational schemes has also been fully utilized.
In the Agriculture Department, ₹66.50 lakh out of ₹160.93 lakh has been spent. Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) of the Rural Development Department, ₹1368.47 lakh out of ₹1500.00 lakh has been utilized.
From various other schemes, ₹1956.00 lakh out of ₹6391.14 lakh has been spent. In the Rural Drinking Water Supply sector, ₹1875.52 lakh out of ₹2220.43 lakh has been utilized.
The Water Resources Department in Puri has spent ₹313.00 lakh out of ₹320.00 lakh grants received. Similarly, in the Nimapada Water Resources Department, ₹1109.45 lakh out of ₹4092.03 lakh grants has been spent.
Under the MGNREGS (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme), ₹3506.97 lakh out of ₹9319.00 lakh has been spent, generating 12,18,027 person-days of employment. Additionally, work was provided to 46,650 registered families, out of which 248 families received 100 days of employment.
Discussions were also held regarding the departments of Supply, Fisheries, Health & Family Welfare, Electricity, Social Welfare, Social Security, Industries, Forest, Cooperatives, Works & Housing, Public Welfare, and Animal Husbandry.
Among others, representatives of MPs from Puri and Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha constituencies, Zilla Parishad members, Chairpersons of various Panchayat Samitis, and officials from various departments including Line Departments actively participated in the meeting and discussions.
