Kakatpur, 27/8 – With the aim of rural development and improving daily connectivity between villages and urban areas, the State Government has been implementing the Chief Minister’s Road Scheme (Mukhyamantri Sadak Yojana). The scheme is intended to connect rural roads, especially in inaccessible regions of the state, thereby reducing the distance between places and helping people save on unnecessary travel costs. On Friday, Sabita Mahapatra, Advisor to the Chief Minister’s Road Scheme, visited various locations in the region and addressed the local people, explaining the importance of the scheme.

She inspected several ongoing road construction projects under the Nimapada Rural Development Division, specifically under the Kakatpur and Konark subdivisions. Among them were the Astaranga Fishery Road from Damashun to Nanapur, a 3-kilometer road built at an estimated cost of ₹244.192 lakhs; a 4.8-kilometer road from Siddhipur to Belanga costing ₹436.87 lakhs; and a 4.06-kilometer road from Marine Drive to Gop-Konark under the Konark subdivision, constructed with a budget of ₹323.94 lakhs.

During the visits, she held meetings with residents of nearby villages to gather feedback about the roadworks. She asked the villagers whether the construction work was being properly carried out, whether engineers were present during construction, and if the quality and measurements of the roads were as per the information displayed on project boards. Her goal was to understand the real-time situation and ensure quality in project implementation.

During the inspection, Sabita Mahapatra was accompanied by Satyajit Dalai, Executive Engineer of the Nimapada Rural Development Division; Harischandra Purty, SDO in charge of Kakatpur and Konark rural development subdivisions; junior engineers Krushna Chandra Tada, Ranjit Kumar Swain, and Nabin Kumar Behera; as well as the contractors responsible for the respective roadworks.
