‘WPL 2023’: Sania Mirza Joins Royal Challengers Bangalore Women’s Team as Mentor
New Delhi: For the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has appointed renowned tennis player Sania Mirza as the team’s mentor.
Notably, Sania Mirza, who has played in six Grand Slam tournaments, could not deliver her best performance in her final major appearance at the 2023 Australian Open. She and fellow Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna finished as runners-up in the mixed doubles category.
Speaking about her new role, Mirza said, “It’s a matter of joy to join the RCB women’s team as a mentor. The Women’s Premier League has brought remarkable progress to Indian women’s cricket. I am eagerly looking forward to being a part of this growth.”
Over the past few years, RCB has become one of the most popular and widely followed teams in the IPL. I am delighted that they have formed a team for the Women’s Premier League. This is a significant step forward for women’s sports in the country.
