25th Maa Tarini Cup State-Level Cricket Tournament Inaugurated
Kakatpur, 28/2 – The 25th Maa Tarini Cup State-Level Cricket Tournament was inaugurated on Tuesday at the nearby Chaudhury Stadium, organized by the Maa Tarini Sporting Club of Astaranga. The club members first visited the Tarini Temple to seek blessings before proceeding to the stadium.
The event was graced by chief guest Chaudhury Sarat Das, Maa Laxmi Club President Pramod Das, Advisor Natakishore Mohanty, Niranjan Das, and esteemed guests Yogendra Lenka, Mr. Chatoi, Manoj Parida, Sunil Dutta Nayak, Soumya Ranjan Parida, Vivekananda Nayak. From the Maa Tarini Sporting Club, President Manoj Bishwal, Sports Secretary Sameer Kumar Kar, Coordinator Sudipta Raut, Saroj Pradhan, Sanjay Pradhan, and Dillip Das were present. The tournament was formally inaugurated by cutting the ribbon, followed by the commencement of the matches.
All other members of the club actively participated and supported the event from beginning to end.
In the first match of the tournament, the Sundargram, Cuttack team won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 194 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Tanmay Das scored a personal total of 48 runs for his team.
Chasing a target of 195 runs, Black Cap Bhubaneswar managed to score 151 runs in 19 overs and 4 balls, losing all their wickets. For the opposing team, Juned Khan bowled 4 overs and took 3 wickets, leading the Sundargram cricket team to a 43-run victory.
Soumendra Das from the winning team was declared “Man of the Match” for his performance of 35 runs and 3 wickets. He received an attractive prize and the trophy from journalists Niranjan Das and Lokanath Nayak.
Skilled umpires Suresh Tripathy and Ramarajan Mohanty officiated the match. The commentary was provided by Mahesh Saha and Deepak Das.
