National Hammerball Championship to Be Held in Puri
For the first time in Odisha, the National Hammerball Championship for men and women will be organized at the Shri Jagannath Stadium premises in Puri. This grand sports event will begin on June 9 and continue for four days until June 12. A total of 300 athletes from 18 states will participate in this championship.
On this occasion, a press conference was held at the auditorium of Shri Jagannath Stadium, where key details about the event were shared. Present at the press meet were Manish Kumar Srivastava, Secretary of the Hammerball Association of India; National Vice President Rintu Mitra; State Vice President of the Hammerball Association Somanath Pattnaik; State Secretary Ragini Mitra; Organizing Committee members Prakash Patra and Prem Chand Baitharu; and State Coach Rahul Tiwari.

President of the State Hammerball Association, Prashant Kumar Dwivedi, extended his best wishes to all participants and warmly welcomed everyone to join this major sports event being hosted in Odisha for the first time and enjoy the spirit of the game.
At the end of the event, the championship trophy was unveiled, and the official Odisha Hammerball jersey was showcased. As per the announcement, tomorrow’s inaugural and closing ceremonies will feature cultural highlights representing Odisha, including Odissi dance, Sambalpuri folk dance, and demonstrations of the traditional art form Mallakhamb. Renowned artists from Odisha will also perform musical presentations during the festivities.
