International Day of Persons with Disabilities Observed at Satyabadi
With joint support from the Shree Nrusingha Deb Regional Youth Council and Tech Mahindra, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities was celebrated on Saturday at the local Devaraj Mandap in Satyabadi. The event was organized to raise awareness and encourage children with disabilities and their parents.
Attending as the chief guest, Satyabadi BDO Arakhita Pradhan emphasized that neglecting persons with disabilities in any field is a crime. He remarked that Lord Jagannath Himself, despite being differently-abled, is the Lord of the Universe and worshipped by all. Hence, society must treat persons with disabilities with empathy and inclusion.
Guest of honour and Chairman of the District Child Protection Committee, Advocate Mahavir Rudra Narayan Sahu, stated that it is essential for everyone to show compassion towards differently-abled individuals. Delivering the keynote address, District Child Protection Officer Manoj Kumar Tripathy called upon officials, institutions, and parents to continue their efforts in integrating children with disabilities into the mainstream and helping them advance in life.
The meeting was presided over by Youth Council Vice-Chairman Rabindra Tripathy, while Secretary Mamata Mishra presented the annual report. Block Social Security Officer Monika Das, Assistant Officer Rajashree Mohanty, and Secretary of Shraddha Foundation Prabhat Chandra Samantray were also present.
Children with disabilities presented cultural performances during the event. Guests awarded children who had excelled in various competitions. The program was coordinated by Monalisa Mahapatra along with her team.
