The Noble Deed of Zilla Parishad Member Sanyukta Dixit
Kakatpur, Date: 20/01 — Sanyukta Dixit, the Zilla Parishad member of Zone 7 in Puri district, has taken a commendable initiative by repairing the road to Shri Jagannath’s Entudi Shaala (sacred resting place) using her personal monthly allowance.
The road in question is a nearly one-kilometer-long canal embankment road that connects the main Kakatpur-Konark road to the Deuli Math, which houses the Entudi Shaala of Lord Jagannath. This road is also used by the Daitapatis (temple servitors) during their search for sacred Daru (holy wood) and to offer prayers and rituals to Goddess Mangala.
During the last Nabakalebara (ritual renewal of deities), this canal embankment road was repaired by the administration. However, for over five years since then, it had fallen into neglect. Due to the overgrowth of wild bushes and weeds, and accumulation of mud and waste, the road had become completely unusable, causing great difficulty for devotees visiting Deuli Math.
Moreover, since this road serves as a direct route from Kakatpur and is used frequently by locals from nearby Kundhei Panchayat, the poor condition was affecting public transportation and access. Taking note of the inconvenience faced by the people, Sanyukta Dixit personally allocated her allowance for eight months to clean and restore the road, making it fit for commuting once again.
Two days ago, during the Prachi Parikrama, saints and devotees who visited Deuli Math expressed their happiness and satisfaction with the restoration work. Her sincere efforts have earned widespread appreciation from the local community, and her actions are being praised as a true example of public service.
