Members of the Bela Bhumi Sahitya Sansad Participate in Beach Cleanup at Astaranga
Kakatpur, 3/12 – Following the successful conclusion of the Pir Jahania Bali Yatra and the Astaranga Beach Festival, a beach cleanup drive was organized today at the Pir Jahania Peetha and the adjoining Astaranga beach area.
Under the leadership of Smt. Banapriya Barik, Chairperson of the Chhuriuna Mahila Mahasangha, around 80 women participated in the cleanup, including members from the SWAD-Agric Project, Climate Change Partners group, and various women self-help groups. Participants also included members of the Astaranga Beach Mahasangha, officials of Pir Jahania, lecturers and professors from Astaranga College, and more than 100 students.
Local journalists, members of the Gundalaba Forest Protection Committee led by Smt. Charulata Biswal, Chhuriuna Sarpanch Shri Kshiroda Kandi, and Panchayat committee member Shri Bimbadhar Biswal, along with all elected ward members of the Panchayat, actively took part and managed the cleanliness drive.
Among other notable attendees were Puri Zilla Parishad Vice President and General Secretary of the “Astaranga Beach Festival, Pir Jahania” Shri Swadhin Kumar Nayak, Zilla Parishad Member of Zone 1 Smt. Saraswati Swain, Prashant Kumar Nayak, Minister’s Astaranga Block Representative Bhimasen Swain, MP’s Astaranga Representative from Jagatsinghpur Champak Barik, Kunj Bihari Pradhan – a director of Puri Nimapada Cooperative Bank, along with Dushasan Nayak (Secretary) and Ramesh Chandra Sahu (Treasurer) of the Bela Bhumi Sahitya Sansad, who also took part in the cleanup.
The entire program was coordinated by the event’s chief organizer, Shri Shobhakar Behera.
