First Death Anniversary and Book Launch Ceremony of Litterateur Dr. Laxman Behera
Date: 13/10 | Cuttack –
The first death anniversary of former Director of the Animal Husbandry Department and noted litterateur Dr. Laxman Behera was observed at the Jagannath Temple premises in Mahanadi Vihar, Cuttack. On this occasion, the children’s magazine Nanabaya’s publisher, Haripriya Behera, attended as the chief guest.
Dr. Pradeep Kumar Dash attended the event as the chief guest, while Laxmikanta Pattnaik was the keynote speaker. Among the distinguished guests were Dr. Bir Kishore Parida and Nanabaya editor Saroj Behera, who shared fond memories of Dr. Behera. The welcome address and introduction of the guests were presented by Dr. Behera’s son and Tahsildar of Baudh, Lagnajit Behera.
Dr. Laxman Behera was a multi-faceted personality—physician, orator, organizer, and literary figure. Guests opined that his absence has left a significant void in the field of children’s literature.
On this occasion, two children’s novels—”Satyabadi Raja Harishchandra” by Lagnajit Behera and “Angulimaal” by Anand Kumar Meher—were unveiled. These works were reviewed by children’s authors Prashanta Kumar Mangaraj and Kunj Bihari Sahu. A discussion was held on the release and development of children’s fiction, during which the contribution of Nanabaya in publishing such works was highly praised by the panelists.
The stage was coordinated by Dr. Sharata Chandra Parida, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Nitya Priya Shubhalagna.
