A tragic incident occurred in Bhimapur village under Dasbidyadharpur Panchayat of the Satyabadi assembly constituency. A farmer lost his life early in the morning after coming into contact with a live electric wire that was hanging dangerously low across the field path. The deceased farmer, Duguna Behera, aged 50, was a resident of Bhimapur village. He was the son of Nabaghan Behera and is survived by a son and a daughter.
According to reports, Duguna was on his way to work in the fields when he was fatally electrocuted. A fallen electric pole had caused the live wire to hang across his farmland, which he came in contact with. The villagers have blamed the negligence of Tata Power, the company responsible for electricity management in the area, for this fatal accident, stating that their irresponsibility cost a life.
Eyewitnesses stated that the electric pole was leaning, and the wire had been lying over the field for some time. As Duguna stepped into the field to begin his agricultural work, he unknowingly came into contact with the live wire, which led to his immediate death. Satyabadi police have since reached the spot and are currently investigating the incident.
