Inauguration Ceremony of the National Hammerball Championship Held
Puri, 09.06.2024 – The inauguration ceremony of the National Hammerball Championship for men and women was held at the Shri Jagannath Stadium premises in Puri. On this occasion, Dr. Jayashree Mahapatra, a member of the Juvenile Board and social worker, attended as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the event. Athletes from various states participated in a flag march as part of the ceremony.
Manish Kumar Srivastava, Secretary of the Hammerball Association of India, delivered the welcome address. Also present on the stage were National Vice President Rintu Mitra, State Hammerball Association Vice President Somanath Pattnaik, and State Secretary Ragini Mitra.
After the formal meeting concluded, Dr. Jayashree Mahapatra interacted with the athletes and symbolically marked the beginning of the tournament by taking a ceremonial batting.
Following this, a cultural program began. Artists from Singhari Entertainment performed Odissi dance, while local vocalists Darshana Kar and Manas Das entertained the audience with musical performances. Athletes enthusiastically danced to Darshana Kar’s vibrant Sambalpuri song “Rangabati,” adding joy to the evening.
