Alpha Sporting Brahmapur Crowned Champions of 35th Mangala Cup

In the thrilling mega final of the 35th Mangala Cup held at the Kakatpur High School ground, Alpha Sporting Brahmapur defeated Rameswar Sporting Bhubaneswar to lift the championship trophy. After winning the toss, Rameswar Sporting Bhubaneswar opted to bat first and posted a competitive total of 209 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 25 overs. Key contributions came from Abhishek Nath (52 runs) and Krushnachandra Barik (40 runs). For Alpha Sporting, Pintu Mahapatra, Abhijit Hota, and Abhijit Pattnaik took 2 wickets each.
Chasing a target of 210, Alpha Sporting Brahmapur achieved victory in 24 overs, scoring 213 runs with the help of a spectacular unbeaten knock of 135 runs off just 68 balls by Rohit Sagar. His innings included 11 sixes and 8 fours. Sudarshan Swain also supported the chase with a solid 38-run contribution. Rameswar Sporting’s M. Gautam claimed 2 wickets in the second innings.
With this win, Alpha Sporting Brahmapur emerged as the champions and were awarded a trophy along with a cash prize of ₹41,441. Runners-up Rameswar Sporting Bhubaneswar received ₹21,221 and a trophy.
The match was graced by several dignitaries, including Kakatpur MLA Tusharkanti Behera, State Assembly Member Subhasish Khuntia, Puri Zilla Parishad Vice President Swadhin Kumar Nayak, CEO of Barik Educational Institute Subrata Kumar Chatoi, Jagatsinghpur MP’s District Representative Sudarshan Swain, Kakatpur Block Chairman Sridhar Nayak, Kishan Chandra Panda, and Mangala College Principal Binod Bihari Behura.
Rohit Sagar was named both Man of the Match and Man of the Series, while Shreyansh Kumar from Rameswar Sporting was awarded Best Batsman. The match was officiated by experienced OCA-certified umpires Nirmal Kumar Mishra and Ayaskant Mishra.
Club President Pradipta Kumar Dixit, Bhagabat Swain, and Kumar Bhawani presented the match commentary.
